One time I was working with legal holds. That’s when we hold our psych patients until the mental facility can take then in. I had a patient who taught me a NEVER mess with psych patients .

So I came into the room like he I’m yesika I’m going to be your nurse for today blah blah blah. She looked at me and told me she wanted to be left alone and to shove the meds up my A$$. She didn’t yell she didn’t scream at me her voice was soft and low. She had some hair in her hand that I assumed was from her head. I looked at her face and her eyes , her head. Yup she was pulling out her OWN hair!

I walked out the room called my charge and told her she needed the dr immediately. My charge nurse came and said nonsense she just needs her meds go give them to her. I told her she wouldn’t take them and I was scared she would hurt me. My charge nurse roiled her eyes snatched my meds and walked towards her room. I swear peas them 3 min later my charge nurse is running down the hallway screaming and the patient jumped passed two sitters, ran out the room, chased down my charge nurse and jumped in her back . She was on top of the charge nurse banging her head in the floor twice and bite her forehead . She stopped got up and asked me for water then started crying because she saw blood on her hands . I told her I would get her water and clean her up if she went back into the room.

Then security finally came , the patient was in the room, they put her in 4 point restraints. And she slept the rest of my shift.

MORAL OF THE STORY never try to force a patient to do anything. No means no .
